Logan Vandermeulen (2 yrs) – Heart Transplant Recipient

Logan was diagnosed at 3 months of age with cardiomyopathy. He had a pacemaker implanted at 1 day old, and then upgraded to a larger pace maker at 3 ½ months. Logan was the youngest child in BC to be placed on the Berlin Heart while he waited in BC Children’s hospital for a heart transplant. After being away from home for over 6 months Logan finally received his heart transplant in July of 2014. Throughout the month’s mom Veronica spent away from home in
Prince George the David Foster Foundation was able to support the family with accommodations in Vancouver, travel expenses, meals, and flights so that her husband and son could come visit on holidays and long weekend. Today Logan is back home with his family running around like a normal toddler with his older brother. Logan continues to attend medical follow up appointment in Vancouver at BC Children’s Hospital with the transplant team. The David Foster Foundation continues to support with the help of flights from national partners WestJet and the WestJet Cares for Kids program.
