For the third consecutive year TELUS, Canada’s fastest growing national telecommunications company, will be lending its support to the David Foster Foundation Miracle Gala & Concert on Sept. 27, 2014 in Calgary.

In addition to joining the event as the presenting sponsor, the TELUS Community Ambassadors will give where they live and provide hundreds of volunteer hours toward planning and presenting the fundraising evening.

Presented by TELUS, the David Foster Miracle Gala & Concert will take place in an elegant and intimate setting within a WestJet hangar on Calgary’s WestJet campus. Each year the gala helps to raise funds for the David Foster Foundation, which was started in 1986 to support the non-medical expenses for families of children undergoing lifesaving organ transplants and to raise awareness on the importance of organ donor registration throughout Canada.

“I am thrilled to have the amazing team at TELUS join our foundation once again as our Presenting Sponsor,” said Mike Ravenhill, CEO of the David Foster Foundation. “TELUS has supported our Foundation since 2010, helping to provide financial support to the many families with children undergoing life-saving pediatric organ transplants.”

Since 2010, TELUS has donated more than $2.1M to the David Foster Foundation to support Canadian families with children in need of an organ transplant. TELUS Community Ambassadors volunteer, not only for the David Foster Foundation, but also for many other organizations and events throughout the community. TELUS’ support comes from a dedicated group of team members and retirees, and is one of the largest corporate-based volunteer organizations in Canada. More than 3,400 current, former and retired TELUS team members volunteer as TELUS Community Ambassadors in 23 clubs in communities across Alberta, BC, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

“The work David Foster and his Foundation are doing to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation in Canada is critical and we are honoured to continue this partnership,” said Andrea Goertz, TELUS chief communications and sustainability officer. “TELUS is proud to work with the David Foster Foundation to help make a difference in the lives of families in need and to educate Canadians on the benefits of becoming organ donors.”

The David Foster Foundation has a goal to raise $30M by their 30th anniversary in 2017, and last year raised nearly $4M during a star-studded evening in Toronto, ON, featuring performances by Andrea Bocelli, Earth, Wind & Fire, and The Tenors.

Foster will be joined by celebrity guests that will be announced over the next few months. Each year, he reaches out to his international network of talented friends to create an unforgettable evening of entertainment and help raise funds and awareness for families waiting for organ transplants.

Tables of ten for the September Gala start at $15,000, with the premium tables selling at $25,000. Tables are available for purchase through the Foundation office. Since 1986, the David Foster Foundation nearly 1,000 Canadian families with children in need of major organ transplants and provided millions of dollars in direct family support. In 2012, there were 3,404 patients waiting for organ transplants and only 1,168 patients who received transplants. During that time, 161 patients died while waiting for an organ. The Foundation’s financial commitment to families ranges from an average of $10,000 per year up to $100,000.

Sponsorships are the cornerstone of the Foundation Gala’s and once again community minded businesses including Boston Pizza, RBC, Trailcon Leasing Inc. and Integrated Planning & Solutions have joined TELUS and WestJet to lead the way in supporting the foundation’s Miracle Gala and Concert in Calgary.
