Katelynn was admitted to SickKids hospital on April 24, 2011 for acute liver failure. Four days after arriving at the hospital she underwent a liver transplant on April 28, 2011. The family had many ups and downs over the next month and a half. Unfortunately, due to complications Katelynn lost her fight on June 13, 2011. The David Foster Foundation was able to secure her parents the final two seats on the last flight out of Toronto after they lost Katelynn. The David Foster Foundation also provided the family with some financial assistance and another flight for Katelynn’s dad while her and mom we were in Toronto. The family had to make the decision to remove Katelynn off of life support, and the foundation was able to get the family home shortly after the difficult decision

“Prior to Katelynn getting sick, I was always one of the fence sitters in regards to organ donation; however, after we lost Katelynn that all changes. I even got a green ribbon tattoo in her honour. We are forever grateful to the David Foster foundation for being able to get us home to our other children once our sweet angel grew her wings.” – Sherry, Katelynn’s Mother.
