DFF partners with the Honda Canada Foundation to drive continued support for families from coast to coast

Three-year national partnership helps to support Canadian families with children undergoing life-saving organ transplants

Sept. 26, 2017, Victoria, BC – The Honda Canada Foundation is the newest national partner of the David Foster Foundation, helping to enhance their decades-long support of Canadian families with children undergoing pediatric organ transplants.

The three-year, $150,000 partnership with the Honda Canada Foundation will provide support for families who require financial assistance to cover their non-medical expenses during the transplant journey. Financial support of non-medical expenses ranges from mortgage, rent, and car payments to airline tickets, groceries, parking, and gas. Often, families have to travel away from home and set up temporary housing close to one of the pediatric transplant hospitals across Canada.

“We are extremely thankful to have the support of the Honda Canada Foundation as a national partner of the David Foster Foundation,” says Michael Ravenhill, CEO of the David Foster Foundation. “With the ongoing, multi-year support from the Honda Canada Foundation, we will be able to assist families as they face one of the most difficult challenges that any parent could imagine.”

Since its inception 30 years ago, the David Foster Foundation has worked with more than 1,000 families across Canada, helping to support their non-medical expenses. The financial commitment to families averages to $10,000 throughout their transplant journey, which includes pre and post-transplant hospital visits and check-ups.

“Supporting Canadian families in times of need is one of the four key pillars of the Honda Canada Foundation mandate and we’re proud to support the David Foster Foundation, as they provide guidance, comfort and much-needed financial support for transplant families across the country,” said Dave Jamieson, Chair of the Honda Canada Foundation.

The Honda Canada Foundation joins other David Foster Foundation national partners including TELUS, WestJet, AMJ Campbell, Aird & Berlis, LLP, and Schnitzer. For more information, visit www.davidfosterfoundation.com.
